        Lost SMB... Surface Marker Buoys

we get a few calls each year were divers loose their SMB on a dive, lines snap, knots not 100%, It would be good if you had your name and a telephone number of a non diver. If the SMB is picked up at sea. Its reported to the Coast Guard who assume that there is a lost diver, then the search and rescue comes into play. But a quick call to the none diver could confirm that yes he was diving and not returned or no he is safe at home. Another action is to call the coast guard and report so its on file and if the SMB is reported it is known and no action taken. This would help to cut down on false alarms The Coast Guard would be happy if we helped them
